How to get the best results from cannabis:

“With cannabis growing more legitimate as a medicine, researchers are finally putting hard data to these anecdotal reports.”
By Matt Simon, Wired Magazine 11.06.18

High dose? Low dose? CBD? THC? Optimizing one’s therapeutic use of cannabis may entail some experimentation. In essence, the goal is to administer consistent, measurable doses of a CBD-rich cannabis remedy with as much THC as a person is comfortable with.

Can cannabis help with the symptoms associated with menopause? It turns out, it can. The endocannabinoid system plays a role in nearly every function of your body, and as with many other systems, it begins to slow down during menopause. Supplementing cannabis can potentially help with many of the undesirable side effects of aging and menopause.

Cannabis History + Current Events

You can call it what you want, we call it Cannabis

Cannabis has a long history of being called a lot of things from weed and pot to hashish and dope, the names are endless and some carry a lot of stigma, while others are meant to be lighthearted. We use the word cannabis, as it is the most scientific term to describe the plant, but for more information about the history of the many names of cannabis you can read NPR’s story “The Mysterious History of ‘Marijuana’“.

Craft weed

In the era of industrialization, the Farmhouse Team takes our mission to protect the craft cultivators, edible makers and extractors very seriously. We hate to imagine the tragic world in which people have very few run-of-the-mill options coming from large scale mono-cropped farms and giant industrial factories. We know that the intention of the producers shines through in the effects of the products, so we make a real effort to get to know our farmers and makers. We were thrilled to read this headline and the article that goes along with it. “Why the Future of Marijuana Farming could be craft weed: Big Marijuana is not Inevitable.

There's more to cannabis than THC

Most are now aquatinted with the term cannabinoid and have heard of THC and CBD, but we don’t think they deserve to be the only compounds in the spot light. Many of the therapeutic benefits and desired recreational effects of THC and CBD are mediated by terpenes. Terpenes are produced by plants to communicate with pollinators, other plants and predators and are responsible for the distinct aromas and flavors. We encourage you to pay attention to the aroma of cannabis, as you will notice a pattern of how it smells that corresponds to how it makes you feel. The interaction of terpenes and cannabinoids is often referred to as the “entourage effect,” though it has been argued that terpenes play such an important role, that they are not merely the entourage, but make up a part of an orchestra and the phenomenon should be referred to as the “orchestral effect.” Either way, it’s important to pay attention to the terpenes in addition to the cannabinoid levels, as they play an irrefutable role in absorption. Here’s an easy read for more on terpenes.
